Before taking up the delicate/tough task of learning body modification and becoming a tattoo artist, Uriel Leon was being commissioned to paint massive murals, owning + lead designer of Momentum Collab, local creative firm.
Formerly hailing from San Martín Michoacan, Mexico, his seminal years were spent in Carpinteria, California. An accomplished skater by the age of 15, Uriel’s artistic talents were also emerging and he was given an opportunity to design skateboards and apparel by a local sponsor. His formative years were spent experimenting, forming, learning and spraying, as the urban artist within was emerging.
Mentors such as Joseph Mastrionni, Scott Keyzers, Jake Vantiger and Irvin Saravia have all helped to shape and guide this young muralist, while his mother was always there to encourage his artistry. Today, the Momentum Collab creator is a thriving tattoo artist, graphic designer and multi-media artist whose range is as diverse as his Collaborative. Detailed anatomical pieces, handcrafted wood canvases, aerosol portraits and new school graphics all highlight his humble being.
